Hi all! My humblest apologies for today’s episode being tardy. We had some issues with the export, partially related to having to edit the episodes on Sarah’s rig now that my laptop has gone to the big silicon valley in the sky. Anyway, for episode 46 we take on Sarah’s next advancement quest: double trouble. Oh, Rathtalos… you and your wife sure do seem to enjoy the pungent aroma of dung tightly wadded up into a bomb casing.
This week Sarah learns how to acquire power/armor charms and how to upgrade them into talons. She also hunts down a Rathalos in Moga Woods to earn a four-star trade item. We wrap up with a bit of arena play and Roy gets carted… a lot.
Note: Next week there will not be a new episode since we’ll be at ConnectiCon!
This week Sarah trains in the arena against several dangerous monsters. Will her newly forged bunny ears and Cadbury eggs be enough to protect her from the Urugaan’s mighty chin? Or will he join us in splitting a pack of Peeps? Oh, but there are four Peeps in a pack and only three of us! Easter is too stressful…
For this week’s episode, we finally take on the fully-grown Urugaan in a no holds barred, chin-stomping battle of wits. Our chins may be small, and the Urugaan may be big, but um… We’ve got heart… or something. Yeah. After that we hunt down a Rathalos and enjoy the effects of our Dragon elemental weapons. Coming soon: Ceadeus? Is it that time already?!
As I mentioned on Monday, Sarah has been under the weather so we could not record a podcast this week. I would host on my own, but we all know how boring that would be… Instead I’ve decided to take the best clips from our recent online hunts with some of you! There was about four hours of footage to sift through, but I managed to capture some pretty good moments. My apologies if you joined us but didn’t make the cut — I tried to include as many hunts as possible. Finally, thank you all for the well wishes to Sarah! She is slowly recovering and we both hope she’ll be fighting fit as soon as possible!
This week Sarah sets her sights on a new monster’s head, or tail – we can’t be totally sure, as the monster in question is the Gigginox! We are also joined by Joel who provides some Great Sword swinging assistance as well as much needed monster voice acting talent. (We can fly Joel out to LA whenever you’re ready, Capcom!) Since poison is the Gigginox’s specialty, I go over how to craft several items which assist in removing poison from yourself as well as your allies. After the Gigginox, we try our hand at a quick Rathalos.
As I mentioned in the most recent episode of the podcast, I’ve been experimenting with the bow in Monster Hunter Freedom Unite. It’s a very interesting weapon, and while I’m still a novice I was having so much fun hunting dragons with it I decided to record a quick video! My most important takeaway from this hunt is that from now on, I am bringing Mega Dash Juice… Running out of stamina with a Rathalos staring you in the face is not a good feeling. If you guys are interested in seeing more random videos like this let me know and I can upload more!
Bow: Black Bow I
Armor: Full Kirin (low rank)
For this week’s episode, Sarah faces off against a new monster: the Rathalos. Being the male counterpart to the Rathain, the two share a number of common attacks and a love of embryos. Over the course of the lengthy battle we will discuss eggs in depth, touch briefly upon the motion picture Air Bud, and get poisoned… repeatedly. We also introduce a new mascot of the show, soon to appear on t-shirts and the cover of People magazine: deal-with-it-egg.
As always, enjoy and look forward to next week’s episode!
