We’re back! Did you miss us? Did you miss our glorious puns and 90’s cartoon references? Well, we missed you guys too. For episode 36 we ease back into the world of hunting monsters by taking on an Agnaktor with the goal of breaking all his little hands. I also teach Sarah to create Lifepowder, an item that will no doubt prove invaluable in the impending high rank quests.

For episode 35, Sarah faces her greatest offline challenge to date: the mighty bearded Ceadeus! After learning some pro-level combinations, Sarah dives into the unknown to battle her very first elder dragon.

Last week’s votes have been tallied! The results? A landslide victory for Switch Axe training! And so we invite my long-time hunting mate Mikey on the show to tell us how to work the contraption, first introduced in Monster Hunter Tri. Thanks for the kind words! As for our recording process, we’ve more or less outlined that here:

There haven’t been many changes to our process since this post.

Basically for hardware you’ll want the following:

HD PVR (currently on sale at Best Buy!)
A good mic, USB or otherwise (we use this one)
A component cable for your Wii (we use this one)

The HD PVR comes with software to record if you own a PC. If you have a Mac then you need to purchase a different program.

Other software you’ll want includes:

Handbrake, to convert your recorded videos into a format that is compatible with your video editor.
A video editor (we use this one)
Audacity to record the audio and convert it to MP3 if need be

As Sarah prepares herself for her impending duel with the Ceadeus, we return to the arena to practice more against the Urugaan. We take our viewers’ suggestions and try some new weapon combinations which prove rather effective at slowing the Urugaan’s roll. GET IT?!

My apologies for this episode being shorter than normal — we were in New York over the weekend and didn’t have as much time to record. To make up for it, we’re letting you guys pick what we do in episode 34! We can either hunt the Ceadeus, or have our Switch Axe training. Let us know in the comments which you’d rather see!

This week we discover the wreckage of an anger management meeting, drawn by the sound of high-pitched roars. There, among the crushed styrofoam cups and sugar packets, we meet a new foe: the Diablos. For this week’s episode, we finally take on the fully-grown Urugaan in a no holds barred, chin-stomping battle of wits. Our chins may be small, and the Urugaan may be big, but um… We’ve got heart… or something. Yeah. After that we hunt down a Rathalos and enjoy the effects of our Dragon elemental weapons. Calling all Monster Hunter Tri hunters! This Friday (3/16) you can join us once again and share in the thrill of the hunt. Here’s how it works:

Sign into Monster Hunter Tri this Friday from 8:00 PM EST to 12:00
Server: Valor 3
Gate: 40

*My apologies to those of you hunting in Europe, but sadly the servers are not shared so we can only hunt with players in America.

We deliberately picked an open server, so those of you who may be just starting can still join in the fun. Once you arrive at the gate there will be at least one room active (that’s where we will be). If there are more, we ask that people return to the gate to rotate occasionally so that we can hunt with as many of you as possible. This is also a good way to meet new active hunters! Feel free to ask questions and learn as much as you can. If you are high rank, please specify that in your room’s name to prevent confusion by using the “Skilled Players Only” title. Please also take turns selecting quests so that everyone gets a chance.
